It is located 15 km from Montecatini Val di Cecina.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It was an important Etruscan center, as evidenced by its famous museum, and an important strategic settlement during the Roman period and then throughout the Middle Ages.
From Volterra was St. Linus, the second pontiff of the Catholic Church, successor to St. Peter.
The historic center sits atop a hill and dominates a vast panorama from above.<\/p>\n

A visit to this charming town immediately arouses a sense of awe and magic: the height of its location, the view that sweeps in all directions, the yellowish landslide land, the shells on the pavement as a reminder of its past as a seabed, the square, the ancient walls and the beautifully preserved monuments.<\/p>\n

Heading north, again in about an hour, we reach Pisa, Lucca e Firenze.<\/strong><\/p>\n
